青瓷花鳥梅瓶，圓肩飽滿，瓶腹柔斂，足微外撇，器形優美展現高麗朝製瓷技術之高度。瓶身象嵌技法，臻於十二世紀中葉，乃高麗瓷匠最為人驚嘆之發明。象嵌法起源未明，應受早期彩繪陶器、錯銀銅器及同時期鑲嵌漆作之啟發。

象嵌技法細巧繁複，需於土胎微硬時，將紋飾細刻於土胎上，刷白色或紅棕色化妝土於刻劃紋飾內，並仔細刮除多餘化妝土。紋飾多見黑白二色，而十二世紀晚期，亦可見部分銅紅色調象嵌瓷。多數學者認為象嵌青瓷需二次入窰，首次素燒瓷胎及象嵌部分，通體施青釉後，再以高溫窰燒。

可參考一尺寸略小梅瓶，瓶身三開光內繪菊枝，售於倫敦蘇富比，1978年12月12日，編號349；另一瓶開光內繪柳樹，售於紐約佳士得，1986年10月16日，編號54；Howard W. Hayes 舊藏一例，瓶身飾三開光及仙鶴瑞蕊四景，現存紐瓦克博物館，刊於 Robert D. Mowry，〈Koryo Celadons〉，《Orientations》，1986年5月號，頁33，圖14。青瓷梅瓶自然寫意之多樣紋飾，展現出高麗陶瓷的活力與創意。

安宅收藏一件青瓷梅瓶，肩飾如意式開光、鶴竹紋，足作蓮瓣紋，錄於《The Radiance of Jade and the Clarity of Water. Korean Ceramics from the Ataka Collection》，芝加哥藝術博物館，芝加哥，1991年，編號15。

宋時大平老人錄「天下第一」者為，監書、內酒、端硯、洛陽花、建州茶、蜀錦、定瓷、高麗秘色等，此類青瓷出身尊貴，於高麗王朝更是備受珍視。於中國，青瓷種類繁多，不僅可見於多數尋常百姓家用，最高等級者亦得皇族內廷傾愛。文人作詩詠嘆青瓷特有色澤，稱之祕色，其釉色青中微灰，可比擬秋日遠山迷濛之姿。
