The bowl and cover are in overall very good condition except for a very small flake to the green glaze on the green flower above the perching bird. The gilt paint of the mouthrims of both the cover and the bowl, as well as the top rim of the cover, is partially worn. Fine and minute firing speckles, as well as glaze crackles, are seen on the colour glaze, particularly the green glaze.

鬪彩蓋盌繪喜上眉梢，鵲鳥靈動，繁英繽紛，體現雍正帝喜好創新，傾愛巧緻紋飾，尤其是寓意喜兆者，對於御瓷品質且要求至高。以青花細線描繪紋飾，呈現鳥羽及枝幹質感，佈局疏密有致，見匠師巧心，為帝王授命監造之器。蓋盌年款書寫風格耐人尋味，其中「大」字下部豎撇，類同林業強曾撰專文探討之一批康熙瓷，〈Lang Tingji and the Porcelain of the Late Kangxi Period〉，《Transactions of the Oriental Ceramic Society》，卷68，2003/2004年，文中歸結此類年款瓷器，應僅用於康熙晚期及雍正初年，見頁44。

上海博物館藏一件同款蓋盌，刊於陸明華，《清代雍正－宣統官窰瓷器》，上海，2014年，圖版3-20，此處提及館藏另二件作例，其一缺蓋，頁46；北京故宮博物院亦藏一蓋盌，錄於《故宮博物院藏文物珍品全集－五彩•鬪彩》，香港，1999年，圖版223；第三例藏於倫敦大英博物館，載於 R.L. Hobson，《The Later Ceramic Wares of China》，倫敦，1925年，圖版LV，圖1。亦可參考倫敦蘇富比售出一蓋盌，1966年11月1日，編號127；另一例曾於1974年於倫敦蘇富比售出，1977年再次售於香港蘇富比，最近一次為香港佳士得2009年12月1日，編號1918。

喜上眉梢紋飾吉慶有餘，喜鵲意喻佳兆，十八世紀時，尤受重視，滿族傳說仙女嘗了神鵲銜來紅果後，誕下愛新覺羅氏，即為滿清王朝之先祖。
