明宣德 青花水波應龍紋高足盃 《大明宣德年製》款

finely potted with deep rounded sides rising to a gently flaring rim, supported on a tall splayed stem with a sealed flat base, superbly painted around the exterior in deep shades of underglaze blue accented with 'heaping and piling', the cup with two ferocious dragons striding amongst scrolling clouds above turbulent waves, each with a pair of wings springing from carefully detailed scaly bodies, their muscular legs terminating to sharp claws, their mouths opened revealing sharp fangs, all between double-line borders encircling the rim and waist of the cup, the stem decorated with vaporous scrolling clouds above evenly spaced, pointed jagged rocks, the interior of the cup left white and inscribed with a six-character reign mark within double circles repeated at the rim, the base unglazed, revealing the smooth white biscuit

Apart from a 4cm haircrack at the rim, the stemcup is in good condition. There is also a typical original bodyline along the luting (only visible from the interior with a torch light).

高足盃屬藏傳佛教禮器，本品傳曾為達賴喇嘛所有，後入印度 State Treasure House，明初或為一藏教佛寺寶藏。明永宣兩代皇帝均篤信佛教，亦曾命官窰燒製禮器賞賜予藏傳佛教寺廟。

此盃所繪雙足雙翼應龍紋於宣德御瓷中極為珍罕。僅見一相似例，售於倫敦蘇富比1986年6月10日，編號219，後或再售於紐約佳士得1990年11月29日，編號176。另見一應龍紋高足盃，足部繪相間海水紋，售於香港蘇富比1986年5月20日，編號17。亦有一宣德款小罐例，亦繪應龍紋，風格甚異，先後售於倫敦佳士得1983年12月14日，編號407，香港蘇富比2006年4月10日，編號1663，及2008年4月11日，編號2931。

一相類高足盃例，繪獅象紋，均帶雙翼，足飾海水紋，屬大衛德爵士收藏，載於加納爵士，《Oriental Blue and White》，倫敦，1954年，圖版27B。

其他近似宣德款高足盃，所繪龍紋多為四足四爪，無翼，足部飾卷雲紋；亦或五爪龍紋，足畫卷雲或海水紋。據載，台北故宮藏此類龍紋高足盃共十六例，其中雲龍紋八例，海水龍紋八例，見《故宮瓷器錄》，台中，1961-66年，卷2（上），頁166f；其中兩例展於《明宣德瓷器特展目錄》，台北，1980年，編號68，及《明代宣德官窰精華特展圖錄》，台北，1998年，編號80。北京故宮亦藏一相若例，錄耿寶昌編，《故宮博物院藏明初青花瓷》，北京，2002年，卷2，圖版164，及一四爪雲龍紋例，圖版165。北京首都博物館亦藏一例，見《首都博物館藏瓷選》，北京，1991年，圖版102。

另可比一四爪雲龍紋高足盃例，先後為大衛德爵士，趙從衍家族，及天民樓遞藏，載《天民樓藏瓷》，香港藝術館，香港，1987年，圖版23，售於倫敦蘇富比1977年7月5日，編號206，後又於香港蘇富比1986年11月18日，編號37。Sidney G. Williams, J.P. 亦藏一例，售於倫敦蘇富比1966年12月13日，編號80，現存紐約亞洲協會，刊於 Denise Patry Leidy，《Treasures of Asian Art: The Asia Society’s Mr. and Mrs. John D. Rockefeller 3rd Collection》，紐約，1994年，圖版175。亦見一例，為 J.C. Wilson 舊藏，售於倫敦蘇富比1973年3月13日，編號233，並展於《中國文物集珍·敏求精舍銀禧紀念展覽》，香港，1980年，圖錄編號78。

本拍品自印度 State Treasure House 入 John Perronet Thompson, K.C.S.I., K.C.I.E. 爵士（1873至1934年）典藏，其於1896年成為印度地方官員，曾任印度旁遮普邦政府首席秘書及德里首席行政長官，並作為1911年德里考古博物館莫臥兒藝術及古文物展覽籌辦人之一。該展正值德里杜巴節，時為慶祝喬治五世及瑪麗女王加冕，正式成為印度國王及王后。

John Thompson 爵士之女，Lalage Wakefield 爵士夫人， 後繼承此盃，其一生長居印度，酷愛騎馬、射獵與養犬，並任西藏獵犬協會主席直至去世，享年94歲，其夫 Edward Birkbeck Wakefield 爵士（1903-1969年）為印度地方官員，後入英國保守黨任職，後又任馬爾他高級行政長官。
