Condition

Executed on cream wove paper, not laid down. The sheet is affixed to mount at several points along the verso of the perimeter and is floating in its mount. The edges are very slightly irregular and there is a tiny nick to the left upper edge. There is some faint staining to the upper left edge and a small flattened crease across the shield. This work is in overall very good condition.

拍品資料及來源

Between 1962 and 1963, Picasso made numerous studies and versions of L'enlèvement des Sabines many of which, including the present work, were based on Jean-Jacques David's 1799 depiction of the myth L'intervention des Sabines which belongs to the Musée du Louvre, Paris.
