As expected of its use in its domestic setting, there are minor bruises, especially to the fragile extremities and shrinkage between the separate sections of the wood. The drawers are possibly replaced, as are the metal fittings.

現例是兩扇開門式。獨板門木紋華美。門後分三層，上下皆空，中層置有兩抽屜，左右並列。長方形銅面頁、吊牌拉手、鼻鈕、長方合頁、兩側弧形提環及菱形銅護片均為黃銅製。

箱具中無頂蓋及平屜，正面兩開門或插門，內列多層抽屜的形式，被近人稱為 「藥箱」。其實此類箱子適宜儲存多種物品。古代 「藥箱」 用輕身雜木製令其方便攜帶，採用堅實沈重黃花梨木製 「藥箱」，應是從原來雜木設計的箱子得到啓發而發展而成，用來儲存珍貴物品。
