the top of standard mitre, mortise and tenon frame construction with a single board tongue-and-grooved flush, floating panel supported by two dovetailed transverse stretchers underneath, the short rails of the mitred frame with exposed tenons, the edges of the frame moulding inward and downward and ending in a narrow flat band, resting on a recessed waist and plain straight apron, made of one piece of wood and mitred, mortised, tennoned and half-lapped to legs terminating in exquisite inward curved hoof feet

桌面為標準格角攢邊打槽裝板，平鑲獨板面心，下裝二根穿帶出梢支承。邊抹冰盤沿上舒下斂，至底壓窄平線。邊框抹頭見明榫。束腰與平直素牙條一木連做，以抱肩榫與腿足結合。腿下端內彎成線條優美的馬蹄足。

炕桌為典型明朝家具桌型之一，適用於席地而坐時或用於炕上。炕為用磚製成的臺座，下面空洞，可以燒火取暖。體形較小的炕桌除了炕上使用外，亦可置於羅漢床和架子床上。

古斯塔夫．艾克，《中國花梨家具圖考》，北京，1991年，圖版3載錄一具造型類似但體型較大的炕桌，現為美國肯薩斯市納爾遜．阿特金斯藝術館藏品。
