On the breaking up of Sir John Malcolm's mission from India to Persia in 1810, to which Kinneir had been attached since 1808, the author first returned to England before being sent to rejoin his regiment in the Madras infantry. His journey, through Cyprus, Constantinople, Bagdad and Bombay, is recounted here, alongside some notes on his earlier travels in Persia whilst serving under Malcolm.
