拍品資料及來源

This handsome pair cased watch has an attractive painted scene with a rare automaton, comprising a revolving disc beyond the doorway in the castle’s wall which simulates
‘redcoats’ riding past. It is interesting to compare this watch with one by John Bowen, also hallmarked for 1813, which is illustrated in The Camerer Cuss book of Antique Watches,
p. 176, pl. 104. This has an identical arrangement so that marching soldiers may be seen through an open castle doorway. The style of painting is very similar to the present lot
and is perhaps by the same hand.
