The movement is running and chronograph function working at time of cataloguing, however it was not tested for the accuracy of time or duration of the power reserve and may need service at the buyer's discretion. Case with scratches and scuffs throughout denting to the bezel at 170 and 90, marking to the case back, scratch across case back and to the bottom left hand lug. crown does not sit flush to the band.

In 1972, as part a promotional campaign, Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company offered clients the opportunity to buy Heuer's iconic Autavia Chronograph for only $88, a saving of nearly $170 on the retail price then.  All the customer had to do was provide proof of purchase of a Carton of the company's 'Viceroy' cigarettes. The watch, already made famous in the motorsport world as the chosen chronograph worn by the likes of Jo Siffert, Gilles Villeneuve, Clay Regazzoni and Derek Bell, was now much more affordable. The promotion, naturally, proved phenomenally popular.  Such, indeed, was its popularity that Heuer struggled to match production with demand.

To compliment the promotion, the Autavias provided by Heuer had certain distinguishing features in keeping with the Viceroy brand, thus the 'Viceroy' Autavia was born. The hands were fitted with red inserts and red tips, the applied indexes too, were accentuated with white inserts and red painted hour markers adjoined the white outer minute track.  Further to this, the subsidiary 12-hour register was calibrated with all 12 hours, rather than the usual four; 12, 3, 6 and 9.  The present lot is superb example of the the Viceroy model.
