the seated bodhisattva holding a child, wearing long flowing robes open at the chest revealing a beaded necklace, the hair neatly parted and pulled back above the serene face, and falling in two knotted tresses onto the shoulders, all supported on a pierced rockwork base with a book on a pedestal at the side
Condition
The raised hand of the baby and one of his feet restored, the raised hand having further small loss to one fingertip and to the attributed held. A flake loss to one of the baby's toe tips, and to one of Guanyin's fingertips. With scattered firing imperfections and interior firing cracks. The glaze is ivory colored, which takes on warm undertones where it pools at the figure's back.
