the beast cast standing on a snake-like mythical creature, gripping it with its four claws, the serpentine figure coiled around to form the base of the vessel, the hollow body cast with archaistic flaming flanks, wearing an elaborate collar around its shoulders, suspending a bell and two ornamental tassels, the head also hollow with large round eyes beneath bushy brows and jaws wide open to reveal the tongue and sharp teeth
Condition
The censer is in good condition with the exception of loss to the majority of the gilding.
