- porcelain
of circular form, the flat top of the stepped cover pencilled in underglaze-blue with a central medallion enclosing a pair of chilong writhing amongst stylised lingzhi scrolls and flame wisps, the sides encircled by a band of lingzhi heads repeated on the box, the rims bordered by a keyfret band, the interior similarly painted with a branch of magnolia on the cover and a leafy lotus spray on the box, inscribed with an apocryphal Chenghua mark to the base
Condition
There is a fine crack on the cover approx. 7.6cm long. The box with a 1.7cm long hairline crack and frits around the rim. The box and cover are both slightly misfired, with scattered burst bubbles and iron spots.
