The vessel is in good condition with the exception of a glaze line partially encircling the base of the upper section of neck, a similar line partially encircling the spout where it joins the body, and a 2mm., drilled test hole to the base. Please note the dating of this lot is consistent with its Oxford Authentication Ltd. thermoluminescence test result (C112e24).

淨水瓶器形原應取材金屬器，唐代時乃佛教禮器；有青銅一例，圖見《中國工藝：出光美術館藏品圖錄》，東京，1989年，圖版328。

北京故宮博物院藏一件器形與本品類似的白釉淨水瓶，圖片參閱《故宮博物院藏品大系：陶瓷編4隋唐五代》，北京，2013年，圖版183，亦載錄一例，器形較小，圖版184；新潟市美術館收藏一件例作，出版於《世界陶瓷全集》，東京，1976年，第11冊，圖版110；另一件參考康蕊君《Yuegutang. Eine Berliner Sammlung Chinesischer Keramik》，柏林，2000年，圖版85。拍賣會曾售出數件近例：Carl Kempe收藏，售於倫敦蘇富比2008年5月14日，編號206；紐約蘇富比售出過兩件，分別是1973年11月20日，編號151、1974年5月23/24日，編號259，來自J. Spaulding收藏；香港蘇富比1978年11月28日，編號8。
