of rectangular form and square section, each side of the body crisply carved with four raised plain panels, all supported on a stepped pedestal foot, the incurved shoulders carved with four mythical-beast mask handles suspending loose rings, the cover of similar section surmounted by a coiled dragon in high and pierced relief with finely incised detailing, the stone highly polished and of slightly mottled 'sodden snow' tone

This large and impressive vase is in good condition but does have a flaw running diagonally through the rim for 4cm. There is also a minor flaw to one side of the cover. The vase is more of a celadon colour than depicted in the catalogue.

本品尺寸碩大，玉材精潤，瑰麗雅致。器身雖大，四面留光素，凸顯玉色明淨均勻，晶瑩剔透，通體柔潤，更顯瑩瑩生輝。兩邊飾一對獸耳，上頂鏤雕龍鈕，對比溫潤流麗之身，互相輝映。此款以青銅禮器為鑑，參考一例，《大清乾隆年製》款，三度售於香港蘇富比，分別為1997年、2006年以及2007年10月9日，編號1322，造型或取自古青銅壺。

如斯大瓶，不加紋飾圖案，獨顯瑩玉者，甚為鮮見。比較一小瓶，器身飾舖首，原屬清宮典藏，現仍於北京，載於《故宮博物院藏品大系：玉器編10‧清》，北京，2011年，圖版12。

乾隆一朝，清軍平定西北，巨碩美玉自和闐、葉爾羌源源進獻。清宮造辦處選其中上乘籽料，送往蘇州、兩淮及長蘆鹽政之玉作坊加以雕琢，成品待內廷審鑑，方納入宮中。
