consisting of seven panels with the largest panel in the centre flanked by pairs of panels descending in size, the tops of the panels with a stepped profile, each panel finely painted in different shades of gold and applied gold leaf against a black lacquered ground, depicting pavilions, pagodas in 'floating' landscape scenery with cranes and fishermen on boats, enclosed within a cash and geometric floral diaper border, all above a rectangular panel decorated with bats, flowers and archaistic scrolls, the reverse missing its silk panels, enclosed with a similar diaper border, above a rectangular panel enclosing a full frontal five-clawed dragon in pursuit of a 'flaming pearl' on a cloud ground enclosed within floral and archaistic scroll border, stand

Condition
The overall condition is very good with only minor age cracks repaired and minor chips to the edges restored. The restoration is very light and well done. The backside is missing its original silk panels. The panels were originally hinged and possibly had 2 more additional panels on the sides. The surface has been protected with a light layer of clear varnish.

十六、十七世紀之際，大量日本蒔繪輸入中國，盛行於文人之間。雍正時期，宮廷造辦處漆作試作蒔繪，稱為「洋漆」。雍正帝傾愛黑漆，此座屏風即為當朝製描金黑漆作。漆器始於中國，盛行於日本，且發展出多式技法風格，運用金漆裝飾之蒔繪尤得清宮青睞，可見類似金漆技法用於盒匣、箱櫃、屏風等。
屏風一側飾描金，另一側常見織錦或繪畫以為呼應，參考北京故宮博物院藏一座九扇屏風，刊於《故宮博物院藏文物珍品全集．明清家具（下）》，北京，2002年，圖版198，描金山水圖邊框飾日式皮球花。黑漆描金裝飾亦可見於宮廷櫥櫃內部，同錄一件多寶格，立板髹黑漆綴描金山水圖，同上，編號216。
Léopold Davout 為法蘭西第二帝國將軍及奧爾施泰特三世，頭銜溯自其伯父拿破崙時期法國元帥 Louis Nicolas Davout（1770-1823年），1864年由拿破崙三世再次頒予授勳。Davout 出身勃艮第貴族，1849-77年間任職於法軍，曾參與拿破崙三世之普法戰爭。
