The jar and the cover are in overall very good condition, except for a couple of original shallow kiln flakes to the unglazed footrim.

青花逐珠龍紋蓋罐，瓷胎緻細，釉面潔白光潤，紋飾簡潔內斂，反映康熙帝致力復興官窰之力，奠定清官瓷風格與品質之高度發展。
劉源（約1638-85年），精書畫，其筆下《凌煙閣功臣圖》繪唐太宗之二十四功臣像，忠誠為題，得朝廷賞識，康熙十八年（1679年）詔命入京任畫師，1682年已奉命為景德鎮御窰廠督陶官臧應選設計瓷樣。《清史稿》記載：
「時江西景德鎮開御窰，源呈瓷樣數百種，參古今之式，運以新意，備諸巧妙。於彩繪人物、山水、花鳥，由各極其勝。」
劉源以青花細線描繪紋飾，背景素雅清淡，開啟瓷繪新風格。此蓋罐，於素淨白地上，僅繪逐珠龍紋，無須贅飾。長頸小蓋，異於明代器制，印證康熙官瓷之多樣化與當朝特色。
台北國立故宮博物院藏一件近類蓋罐，書雙圈年款，錄於《故宮清瓷圖錄．康熙窰．雍正窰》，卷１，東京，1980年，圖版9；鮑氏珍藏一例，刊載於 John Ayers，《The Baur Collection, Geneva》，卷4，日內瓦，1974年，圖版A513。參考紐約弗里克博物館藏一對蓋罐，編號1965.8.164；Jung Hsing Hsiang 舊藏一對作例，售於紐約蘇富比1989年12月6日，編號1995；香港蘇富比1993年10月26日售出一件蓋罐，編號163。北京故宮博物院藏一件較大蓋罐，刊載於《清代御窰瓷器》，卷1（上），北京，2005年，圖版45。
