此長頸瓶器形優雅，瓶頸細長，瓶身渾圓，所繪紋飾筆觸簡潔有力，見木刻版畫及當代繪畫之風。由其器形及畫風可知，該瓶為康熙年間所製，其時此鯉躍龍門紋飾尤為盛行。北京故宮藏一紋飾相類之罐例，定代康熙年間，載於《故宮博物院藏品大系．陶瓷編．清順治康熙》，卷21，北京，2012年，圖版139。南京博物院亦藏一康熙款盤例，刊於《宮廷珍藏：中國清代官窰瓷器》，上海，2003年，圖版84。另見一瓶例，繪鯉魚銜塔紋，藏斯德哥爾摩東亞博物館，見於 Jan Wirgin，〈K’ang-hsi Porcelain〉，《The Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities Bulletin》，1974年，第45期，圖版II。
此瓶所繪之鯉躍龍門紋飾取自古代民間傳說。相傳每年春季鯉魚成群結隊由黃河逆流而上產卵，於龍門處需縱身一躍，跨瀑布而上，極少數成功躍過者遂能化身為龍。民間故以此比喻科舉金榜題名，飛黃騰達。
