Generally in good condition, however there are some restoration to the underside of the rim in one section, in addition to other occasional areas on the neck and body. There is some rubbing to the gilding in several areas and there are minor expected losses and pitting to the enamel throughout. The applied gilt bronze masks to the body and foot are now missing.

明清兩代掐絲琺瑯工藝深受統治者的重視，宮廷造辦處均設作坊，專為皇家製造琺瑯器。本品六方造型獨特，係仿殷商時期青銅禮器「尊」而成，清朝工匠加入了本朝的設計新元素，創造了帶有時代風格的獨特作品。例如把古器光素、短頸的器形，加入長頸撇口、雙鳳耳。乾隆皇帝熱愛古代文化，此品正滿足了他慕古好雅，新奇獨特的品味。

明掐絲琺瑯器多飾花卉紋飾，但清工匠則多用饕餮紋等仿古圖案代之。乾隆皇帝自幼接受漢族傳統文化教育，以儒家思想治理天下，熱愛古代文化，將他的慕古之情盡顯於藝術品上之仿古紋飾之中。一對近例，原為 Kitson 舊藏，飾鋪首銜環耳，售於倫敦蘇富比1960年10月18日，編號83。一較晚例，為清宮舊藏，同飾雙鳳耳，肩飾三環，見《故宮博物院藏文物珍品全集．金屬胎琺瑯器》，香港，2002年，圖版143。另一例鳳耳稍為簡化，參見《中國金銀玻璃琺瑯器全集》，石家莊，2002年，圖版299。

一明朝例，器形相似，飾繡獅及十鳳凰活環耳，藏台北故宮博物院，見《故宮琺瑯器選萃》，台北，1971年，圖版11。另一例飾番蓮紋及三活環耳尊，售於倫敦佳士得1984年7月5/6日，編號11。清宮舊藏一元朝例，頸飾蕉葉紋，同飾雙鳳耳，見前書《故宮博物院藏文物珍品全集．金屬胎琺瑯器》，圖版1。
