of archaistic fangding form, the slightly rounded body supported on four long cylindrical legs, the flat everted rim surmounted by a pair of slightly inward-slanting arched handles, the upper body bordered with a broad raised band centred with a further raised fillet decorated with striations, between two rows of circular rings, the band interrupted by four evenly spaced mythical beast masks, the underside with an apocryphal six-character Xuande mark within a recessed panel, the bronze patinated to a warm copper-brown colour
