the deep rounded sides supported on a short foot, intricately painted with four medallions of scholars in mountainous wintry landscapes viewing flowering plum blossoms (ta xue xun mui), carrying a qin to visit a friend (xie qin fangyou), fishing alone in the cold (han jiang du diao) and reading in the snowy night (xue ye dushu), all divided by feathery floral scrolls and reserved on a pinkish ruby-red ground incised with sgraffiato arabesques, the interior painted with a single stylised baoxianghua, the base inscribed in underglaze blue with a six-character seal mark, wood stand
