吾粵以寫生稱於世者,李□真、林以善、吳山帶、郭東郊若子耳。嗣宋藕塘移家嶺南始,以沒骨法傳於藝林,傳神貌物,賦色雅澹,百年以還,無出其右,其人品高潔尤足為畫者楷模。若徒以吮毫設色,絢世炫俗為能事者,則愧對古人,量後之學者以為然爾?培樾大兄屬題,喜雨樓主人獲觀并識,時乙酉暮春三月。

「五十萬卷樓」收藏名家書畫(編號272-288)
近世廣東藏書之富,當首推東莞莫伯驥「五十萬卷樓」。莫伯驥(1878-1958),字天一,少年學醫,畢業後於廣州設「仁壽西藥房」。莫氏一家以田力讀書為彝訓,陳編世守,嬋嫣不絕。莫伯驥父啟智精研宋學,所藏宋元名臣大儒遺書森森連屋;伯驥少年時因生計,棄儒從商而致富,獨甘飯蔬食,痴迷古書,練積三四十年如一日,終以五十萬卷藏書「上企瞿楊,無慚丁陸」,惜其藏書大多散失於抗戰亂世動盪歲月,著作五十餘種亦毀於戰火,惟存出版〈五十萬卷樓藏書目錄初編〉及〈五十萬卷樓群書跋文〉兩種。
本輯所集莫氏收藏書畫十七件,或為藝壇時賢贈予者,若黃賓虹為莫氏父子四十年代中後期所作系列畫作之一〈庸言書屋圖〉、盧子樞為伯驥子培樾所寫山水冊頁;或為出於地緣關係所集嶺南一地書畫,若宋光寶、二居、葉衍蘭等清中晚期活躍於當地之畫家;亦有伊秉綬、趙之謙、任伯年近代藝壇翹楚,令人得以窺見莫氏收藏趣味境界。
上款:「雲谷」即葉夢龍(1775-1832),廣州人,官至戶部郎中,故又稱曰「農部」。精鑒別,居官京城時結交皆一時勝流,與翁方綱、伊秉綬、湯貽汾等俱友善,歸里後築「倚山樓」,金石、書畫收藏頗豐。有〈風滿樓書畫錄〉、〈友師齋集古帖〉等。宋光寶贈葉雲谷畫作有多幅存世,容庚認為宋氏客居葉家十載,日夕往還,作畫數百,可窺知二人往來頗多。
註:宋光寶此卷繪柿、栗、梨、葡萄、菱角、石榴等鮮菓近十種,畫意生拙,沉著無輕佻,盎然有卷軸氣。宋氏字藕塘,蘇州人,生卒年不詳,一八四八年即受李秉綬禮聘,於桂林、廣州兩地傳授繪事,終定居廣州以終老。作畫能寫生,工筆學北宋,逸筆宗陳道復、惲壽平兩種畫風,居巢居廉兄弟皆受其畫法影響,可謂開「嶺南畫派」之先軀。
