丁香花維揚最盛，開時如錦幛，濃香馥郁，環繞於逥廊曲檻，恍如與荀令君晤對。今日曉起，爽氣西來，頗有幽興。適友人以此扇屬寫此花，遂點染於蟬聲樹影間，可能香氣拂拂從指間出也。戊戌秋日，研樵並識。
鈐印：「研樵」、「本釣徒」。

毛子堅（1882-1954），名經疇，上海人。家道豐瞻，清末民初期間，積極參與當地公共事務，擔任不少社團公職，在仕紳階層中聲譽俱隆。毛氏雅好藝術，日後專注社會活動，海上藝事仍多有參與，與吳昌碩以降之海上畫家極為熟稔，與吳湖帆更具姻親之誼。本輯所集均其後人直接提供，廣涉清中晚期海派名家，雖多屬成扇小品，惟質量極精，大有可觀矣！
