註：一九五三年，黎雄才赴武漢出任中南美術專科學校副教授，直到一九五八年方轉任廣州美術學院教職。本幅署「一九五八年寫於武漢」，應屬離任前所寫。
他五十年代好遊歷寫生，取實景為創作素材，復結合名山大川的自然面貌轉化成胸中丘壑。筆下所出不拘限於某地某景，而是畫中重現造化精神。故本幅無標示取景所在，既是肇慶，或出自峨嵋，又或得諸黃山，畫家著力處正是大自然的體勢氣魄，從另一形式彰顯河山壯麗，這正是他盛年時期特色所在，亦多體現於巨幛大幅上，本幅自屬最佳說明。
畫面結構規整自然，佈局見層次卻無堆砌板滯，老松翠嶺呈對角之勢，均是他典型構圖的陳現，熟練而不浮滑，色鮮而不寡薄。蒼松枝梢綴山禽一對，配以飛瀑急瀉，令畫中倍添動感，格外顯其經營之細緻。
