是為先公遊鎮江竹林寺詩也。丙戌秋日，偶師山樵解索法，與〈林麓幽居〉相近，或不致太失韻味，有畫虎之誚云。倩菴吳湖帆。
鈐印：「倩盦畫記」、「吳湖颿」、「湖山如畫」。

屋後方池留勝迹，泉源已涸長苔痕。

黃鶴山樵〈林麓幽居〉大軸於上世紀三十年代末為王季遷所得，攜示乃師，復得其考証畫上鈐印，訂為真迹，並在日記中有記。該畫四十年代後期流出域外，轉入芝加哥美術館。
本幅乃湖帆先生寫於一九四六年秋，正值其山水創作大盛之年，以其祖父愙齋〈竹林寺〉詩句，並參合山樵畫法寫成。若對照〈林麓幽居〉，構圖迥異，僅技法相近。畫中佈局似從詩句中衍生，雖非取景鎮江金焦二山，惟層巒叠嶂，中以澄湖相隔，波平如鏡，與山間雲氣迴盪，瀑流湍瀉，混融一片，亟得江南秀色之致，復以淺絳法出之，淡綠淺赭，素墨寫樹，結伴成叢，設色蒼秀，清潤明澈，正合詩意中煙雨氤氳之境，實遠叔明繁密結構，自抒畫家胸臆中閒適之氣韵。
