丙寅花朝作四體書一冊,殊負我韻初先生來意,且韻初課書佳紙,亦百年難得之品,媿孰甚焉。讓之記。

〈十七〉
螺青先生大人閣下,韻初先生宣紙十二片,至佳之品,弟恕拙書不稱宣紙,非揭開不可用,且一筆透三叠,尤為不忍,若不揭則墨透,且不受裝,故篆分未揭,真書則揭下,一叠作作草,以備四體,裝一層紙即與未揭者同省而無害也。有一後生在側,聞其可揭,遂將篆書四片揭下層,墨不透全,亦不能留用,殊令人悶悶。請致韻翁,將十二片全揭裝冊,庶幾絲毫無損,真書在末者,是先師慎伯先生語,不可在孫過庭前,乃為無害次序。專此佈達,容面近,此致,即頌日安。弟讓之頓首。

梁勁予藏名家書畫(編號1201-1213)

台山梁勁予(1911-2003),香江收藏界之名宿。他退隱林泉,攜珍藏移居域外後,直到二○○四年春首度釋出藏品,在本公司相繼推出專輯,至今已十餘載。

本輯範圍以晚清民國為主,包括成扇、冊頁,既有書畫仝道精心繪贈,亦及京滬名家不同題材之成扇佳品。其中以吳讓之〈四體書法冊〉(編號1202)最為難得,乃應同期江南收藏大家沈韻初之請而製,並附信札敍其緣由。

上款:「韻初」即沈樹鏞(1832-1873),號鄭齋,川沙城廂人。咸豐九年(1859)舉人,累官至內閣中書。累積金石、碑帖、書畫、古籍極豐,集漢、唐、宋碑版數百餘種,為咸同年間享負盛名之收藏家。他尤精鑒別考証,每有所得,必親校勘,有目錄、題跋錄、訪碑記等著述傳世。殁後,部分書畫收藏歸外孫吳湖帆,為「梅景書屋」奠定收藏基礎。

註:吳讓之為包世臣入室弟子,取法皖派宗師鄧石如,書法、篆刻皆得乃師神髓,參合己貌,自成一家,在書壇、印壇上享尊崇地位。他書四體皆精,本冊以篆、隸、草、楷,滙四體為一,贈仝道沈韻初。

若考二人交誼,吳熙載中年後長居泰州,沈氏寓京,二地分隔,從中牽線者,或為魏錫曾(1828-1882),他與沈韻初、胡澍、趙之謙等為金石交,悲盦更刻「績谿胡澍、川沙沈樹鏞、仁和魏稼孫、會稽趙之謙同時審定印」以紀。一八六三年,魏氏赴泰州拜晤讓翁,為剛輯成之趙之謙印譜求序及請印。後重訪,以吳氏刻印輯成印譜兩冊,一自存,一付沈氏。吳沈訂交,淵源於此。

本冊寫於三年後,從題跋可知,乃沈樹鏞出紙請寫。按冊後信札所示,讓翁寫畢,即託「螺青」交付沈氏。

「螺青」即金吳瀾(1820-1888),「金吳」乃複姓,字鷺卿,浙江嘉興人,咸豐年間入曾國藩幕,擢知府,累三品銜,以勞瘁卒於任。同治初於泰州等地為湘軍奔走,籌集糧餉。

信札中,詳述日後交付裝池時需注意之細節,蓋沈氏原出十二紙,讓翁因應紙質,取其中四開,將夾層分揭為二,一寫楷,一寫草,合成共十六開之四體書法冊。沈氏享譽江南,吳讓之自當悉力為之,所書前後次序,甚費思量,如此講究,實報惺惺相惜之情。螺青轉達書法,並將信札一同交付沈氏,合裝成冊,此藝壇佳話遂得留傳。
