masterfully potted with an ovoid body rising from a slightly splayed foot to a tall waisted neck and flared rim, the neck flanked by a pair of gilt handles suspending mock beribboned chimes resting elegantly on the lower neck, the exterior of the vessel decorated with two pairs of multi-coloured phoenix flanking peony blooms borne on meandering foliate scrolls further issuing delicately picked out blossoms, including clusters of hydrangea and lotus blooms, below a pair of phoenix swooping downwards towards large peony blossoms borne on curling stems issuing camellia blossoms, the detail all picked out in delicately shaded tones of blue, pink, green and white against a vibrant yellow ground, the rim decorated with a pendent ruyi band below the gilt rim, the interior and base enamelled turquoise, the base centred with an iron-red seal mark within a white cartouche, stand

Approximately 2/3 of the mouthrim has been broken off and carefully refixed, extending 3cm at the deepest point. There is a tiny section which has been made up. There is also retouching around the lower handles. There is a rubbing to the gilding at tips of the handles and the footrim.

本器為景德鎮御窰廠瓷匠精粹之作。乾隆皇帝似乎鍾情於雙鳳穿牡丹紋，在其他器型上，如抱月瓶亦見此紋飾。黃地上繪牡丹紋及卷葉紋，取思自洛可可藝風，富西洋趣味。

清御窰工匠燒製鳳穿牡丹紋飾技藝之閑熟精巧，有證可鑑。見一件青花加彩方壺，售於倫敦蘇富比2013年5月15日，編號176；清宮舊藏一件釉裏紅方壺，載於《故宮博物院藏文物珍品全集：青花釉裏紅（下）》，上海，2000年，圖版176。還可參考東京松岡美術館藏青花胭脂紅鳳穿牡丹紋抱月瓶，錄於《世界陶磁全集．卷15》，東京，1983年，圖版92-93。

此器兩耳造型獨特，寓意吉祥，顯示了乾隆時期的創新元素。雙戟耳，掛綬帶及磬，寓「吉慶長壽」之意。乾隆似乎偏愛黃色，可能黃色是帝王所崇尚的專屬顏色，象徵權利、尊貴。見一件黃地粉彩番蓮紋轎瓶，為懷海堂收藏，曾展於《機暇清賞：懷海堂藏清代御窰瓷瓶》，香港，2007年，圖版132。
