熊海深受國畫傳統薰陶，常遊至中國及歐洲各地尋覓美景，四處寫生，師法自然──這種畫法初由明遺民畫家及富創新精神的書畫大師如石濤（公元1642至1707年）等倡導。熊海的巨幅山水畫氣勢非凡，其特寫視角讓觀者幻想站在山腳下，自然引領視線由下至上欣賞景色，此手法見於其作《深山幽靜圖 及 深山清泉圖》（拍品編號575）及《雪山圖》（拍品編號563）。熊海筆法細緻自如，繪畫出在隱亭下歇憩的文人形象，小巧精緻，或精確有序的樹木，畫面複雜精密，又能使觀者沉醉於其巨幅立軸及小幅圖冊中的異想世界，可見於《山水》一作（拍品編號566）。
