This work is generally in good condition with minor wear in handling around the extreme edges. When examined under ultraviolet light, there appears to be no evidence of restoration.

《紅色容器》創作於二〇〇六年,是容器主題作品中少數以全紅色為主調的作品,亦是水桶系列的早期作品,比現時英國泰特美術館永久館藏展廳的三張二〇〇七年創作的《水桶》更早。張恩利的創作生涯中常見的綠色、啡色及黃色調子,刺眼的紅色非常罕見,構成張恩利作品中少見的視覺衝擊力。整張作品以紅色顏料完成,刻意留白的部份則是水桶中的液體,這種以負空間形式來描繪及拱托主體的技法,在藝術家著名的〈天空〉系列亦可看到。「容器」作為題材,對張恩利的創作歷程而言,有著非常重要,甚至是簽名式的地位。容器帶給觀者心理暗示,對於藝術家而言,更是象徵著沒有傳承的一代中國人。「我們這一代沒有任何繼承,在我們小時候,家裡往往沒有什麼財產,所有東西只夠裝進幾個箱子。」張恩利如此表示。1 二〇〇〇年是張恩利的事業轉捩點,該年,藝術家開始嘗試創作一系列的靜物繪畫,其中孤寂空虛的主題更被轉化為聲名大噪的《容器》系列,其中包裝盒﹑盆子﹑水桶,以及其他空空的容器都被漆成平平無奇的設置,這些靜物對於藝術家來說是承載了日常生活中的輕。容器正正是身體的延伸,並成為他二千年最重要的主題。他表示:「從身體成為一種容器這樣一種簡單的認識出發,身體的聯想物盒子、水槽、一棵大樹、一個空的房間,小到一個煙灰缸和一包煙。從細微處發現一個關於物的本質或核心。成為一種『容器』的象徵物。」
