崔正化生於一九六一年，他既是藝術家，同時又是設計師及藝術總監，並因大型綜合媒介雕塑及裝置而知名。崔正化以最普通及不起眼的物料進行創作，包括汽水瓶、塑料袋及塑料盤子等，並同時探索了素材表面下的潛在對話及內在價值。崔正化的作品與波普藝術相通，並有著強烈的設計及色彩。他同時取材自都市環境的和諧及混亂，在美術館的外牆進行創作，挑戰了美術館的階級制度。

崔正化於一九八七年畢業於首爾弘益藝術學院，並先後參與多個國際性展覽，包括二〇〇四年的利物浦雙年展、二〇〇五年的威尼斯雙年展、二〇〇六年的新加坡雙年展及二〇一〇年第十七屆悉尼雙年展等。崔成為現今當代藝術圈中最炙手可熱的藝術家。其中於二〇〇八年，他以二百萬件塑料產品，包括牛奶瓶及水瓶等，製成閃亮的花環佈滿整個首爾奧運場館。
