註：俞明擅寫人物，無論佛道或高士仕女，皆造型精奇，氣息古樸，自創一格，至於山水樓閣，多作襯景，極少單獨成圖。
本幅以梧桐矗立，湖石側伴，重樓高閣，閨女倚朱欄眺望，入畫處，無乃秋思之景象。畫家以小字題於樹幹，曰「橅宋」，題款形式如宋人畫本。惟其用筆纖巧，描繪細緻，工整而不刻板，設色沉厚古艷，甚具裝飾性，如此表現實遠宋而偏近晚清，若參照任熊〈范湖草堂圖〉卷、任伯年〈小浹江送別圖〉，可知或有借鑑，且上接老蓮遺風，在滌煩作品中罕見。
