上款：「澂如」即劉錦藻（1862-1934），浙江南潯人，乃當地鉅富劉鏞次子。光緒二十年（1894）恩科進士，任郎中，授五品候補京堂。具維新思想，熱衷洋務，與康、梁等皆有往來。後投身發展實業，於浙省籌辦鐵路建設，倡辦銀行，並推動教育。他性嗜藏書，其「堅匏庵」積善本尤豐，子承幹「嘉業堂」藏書名重江南， 實奠基於此。
劉氏與書畫文化界甚有往來，如吳昌碩、沈寐叟、張謇等，其花甲之慶，昌碩即精繪花卉四屏以贈。越十載，吳待秋寫本幅賀其登古稀之年。
