The wrist rest is on overall good condition. There is some expected surface wear and nibbling or nicks along some edges, including an old small chip to the top right corner with associated crackle.

清初吳之璠，字魯珍，號東海道人，嘉定人士，後遷天津。吳之竹雕，承嘉定三朱高浮雕技法，襲而不板，繼攻淺浮雕刀式，大片留白，善人物，精山水。清末人金元鈺《竹人錄》書中記：「今流傳人物花鳥筆筒及行草秘閣。秀媚遒勁。為識者所珍」，詳見《竹人錄》，古舊書店，杭州，1983年，A:6b。
