each in the form of a scallop shell with undulating sides below the lobed rim and the interior moulded as a shell, painted in iron red with a pair of five-clawed dragons chasing ‘flaming pearls’ amidst flames and clouds, with gilt accents, the base inscribed jixiang ruyi (‘may you have good fortune according to your wishes’) in underglaze blue
Condition
Both dishes are in overall good condition. There is some expected rubbing to the iron-red and gilding, more visible on the raised ridges of one dish.
