The lacquer box is now set with a wood tray in the interior as a curio box with three jade carvings but the whole assembly may not be original. The carvings are in overall good condition. There are occasional nibblings to some edges, including a bruise to the lingzhi grasped by the carp, and a shallow flake to the si'nan amulet. The edges of the lacquer box and cover have been stabilised. There are a few losses and chips to the rim of the cover and box, the largest measuring approx. 1.8 cm to the inner rim of the box. There are further chips to the edges of the base, including a larger one at one corner. There are also small flakes to the edges of the rims, the largest measuring approx. 1.8 cm to the inner rim of the box, as well as losses to the edges, some of which have been filled in and touched up.
