- lacquer and mother of pearl
the circular panel inlaid in mother-of-pearl with two solders standing before two officials, with an attendant on the side minding the horse, the top right with an inscription reading gong Luocheng huang wei zhenggong ('Attack on Luocheng and the Rivalry of Huang and Wei'), within a black lacquer frame on a gilt-wood gnarled prunus tree set wit a pair of cranes and a pair of rabbits on the reverse
Condition
There is some wear to the gilding in areas revealing the black laquer underneath, the tip-end of one root is chipped and restored. Minor loss to mother-of-pearl. There is also a paper label on the base reading wuting.
