This type of pottery subjects is usually broken and repaired. In the present case, an approx. 6 cm section of the tail has broken off and is now missing, as well as a large section of the back of the beast which appears to have been off and reaffixed. There are further chips to some extremities, including the upper end of the right ear as well as a couple of old chips to the rectangular base on the underside, one under the right front paw and the other just beside the rear right leg. There are traces of an old glaze to the underbelly of the beast.
