both of circular form, the first with gently rounded sides supported on a slightly recessed base, the fitted domed cover carved in relief with flowering branches of peonies and prunus, the box similarly carved with peony and pomegranates, all against a diaper ground; the second with straight sides and a flattened top and bottom carved with prunus against a diaper ground, both interiors lacquered black, together with a metal-mounted boat-shaped dish with bats and auspicious emblems on a diaper ground, 19th century (5)  

Both boxes with numerous cracks and chips to the rims, some extensive, and areas of loss to the lacquer. The second box in the catalog image with a 3 cm section of the rim out and re-stuck with an associated loss. Scattered chips elsewhere. The dish with a 4.5 cm crack to the center. Cracks and small losses to the lacquer elsewhere.
