拍品資料及來源

"First French edition of Brand's narrative of his diplomatic mission to China with Evert Ysbrandt-Ides. Brand was secretary of the embassy sent by the Tsar of Russia to the Chinese Emperor. The purpose of this embassy of 1692-1695 led by Ybrandt-Ides, a merchant born in Holstein in Russian service, was to conclude further commercial agreements with the Chinese, which it did not, in fact achieve" (Western Travellers in China 33).
