This work is in very good condition. There is evidence of some slight scratches and light wear to the surface of the blue parts of the work consistent with age and use.

埃托雷·索特薩斯(1917-2007)是二十世紀後期意大利設計界舉足輕重的關鍵人物，作品包括傢具、陶藝、珠寶、玻璃、銀器、照明用具、辦公室器材及建築，為後代無數建築師及設計師提供靈感。索特薩斯以其在1980年代早期創立「孟菲斯設計師集團」，並因在團體中居於重要地位而為人所熟知，而「孟菲斯設計」的產品風格，至今仍為人所爭相模仿。他以畫有條紋、圓點或豹紋的膠膜面板製作了一系列色彩斑斕的傢具，亦創作精美的玻璃及陶瓷器物。2006年，洛杉磯郡立美術館為索特薩斯的作品舉行首次大型專題展覽。2007年，「埃特雷·索特薩斯：施工進行中」回顧展在倫敦設計博物館舉行。2009年，位於荷蘭馬斯垂克（Maastricht）的瑪爾斯當代文化中心（Marres Centre for Contemporary Culture）將索特薩斯的展覽「新星球·新環境」重構並再次展出，該展覽曾於1969年在斯德哥爾摩的瑞典國立博物館舉行。索特薩斯為布朗迪電話公司所設計的產品《巨型電話》，現為MoMA紐約現代藝術博物館典藏。
