la partie haute aux angles flanqués de colonnes cannelées et ouvrant sur chaque façade à un abattant garni d'un dessus de cuir, découvrant un casier plein à gauche, un casier à sept compartiments à droite, centrés d'un miroir et d'un compartiment, surmontant quatre tiroirs et deux faux tiroirs ; chaque côté muni d'un écritoire incliné coulissant à rabats. La partie basse ouvrant sur chaque façade à cinq tiroirs, deux faux tiroirs et un caisson en bas à droite ; chaque côté muni d'un plateau coulissant, les montants en colonnes cannelées terminés par des roulettes.

Illustration is quite accurate.
Very rare model, possibly unique as no other examples are recorded. Handsome "double secretaire" designed in a clever way. Overall condition is pretty good.
There are of course several chips dents on the surface, also marks and scratches to the veneer. Some small parts of veneer lifting in places. The leather top extensively worn. On one side one rectangular mahogany panel has been replaced.
The mirrors withe mercury stains and wear. As said overall conditions is fine a s all listed previous remarks remain logical for a piece of this age.

Notre secrétaire fut assurément l’objet d’une commande particulière répondant à des exigences précises nécessairement imposées par son destinataire. Il devait être situé dans un cabinet de travail où le commanditaire travaillait avec un assistant placé sur le second poste de travail opposé au sien. La perfection de la finition et le luxe des matériaux répondaient sans aucun doute au prestige du commanditaire.
