The hinge between box and cover has broken, there are minor nibbles and corrosion to the edge of the rim of the cover and a 3mm., diam., area of corrosion to the exterior rim of the box, otherwise in good condition.

本類貝殼形銀盒，唐代創製，作存放紅妝脂粉之用。相若兩例，器型近似，珍珠地上飾鵝紋，圖見韓偉及Christian Deydier，《Ancient Chinese Gold》，巴黎，2001年，圖版 359-363；芝加哥藝術學院藏一例，上作飛鳥卷葉紋飾，曾展於《 Chinese Gold & Silver in American Collections》，The Dayton Art Institute，德頓市，1984年，編號 40；一例圖見《スウエーデン国王所藏中国古美術展》，東京，1971年，圖版 37；另有一例，售於倫敦蘇富比1955年3月24日，編號 55。
