Condition
The x-ray shows that both fittings are in good overall condition with the exception of several areas of loss (visible in the catalogue illustration). The fitting on the left in the catalogue illustration has a ca. 2.5x2cm large hole to one side of the lower middle part and a ca. 2x1cm to one of the horns. The fitting on the right in the catalogue illustration has a ca. 2x1cm large hole to the middle section and a ca. 1.5x1cm large hole to one of the horns and a small hole next to one of the eyes. The bronze is covered with a light green and brownish patina. The inventory numbers D.W. 3035.1 and D.W. 3035.2 are inscribed in white on the reverse of the horns as well as parts of a paper left on one of the fittings. The colours are less dark than the catalogue illustration suggests.
