The painting is modest, depicting the main elements without attempts to join up the two ends of a flat design. One end of the scene is defined by a rock with the other border fading out in the foreground. The angular style is reminiscent of Sale 7, lot 49, where both branches and overhanging rocks are made up of a similar textured arrangement of sharply-angled, overlapping edges to suggest the planes of a rock face.
