There are two chips to the rim of the cover approximately 3/4 and 1/2 in (1.5 cm and 1 cm) long, as well as numerous smaller chips and age cracks. There is some evidence of touch-ups to the rim. There are two chips to the top edge of the cover also approximately 3/4 and 1/2 in (1.5 cm and 1 cm) long, as well as scattered age cracks and minor nicks, consistent with wear from age and use. There are cracks and signs of wear to the lacquer on the interior, which may have been relacquered. The box, which is later, has chips around the foot rim, blistering and signs of wear to the lacquer on the base and general signs of wear overall.
