the compressed globular body well-cast with two pairs of writhing, contesting four-clawed dragons on a ground of rolling waves, and set to either side with a pair of upright chilong-form handles, all supported on three cabriole legs issuing from monster masks terminating in paw feet, the reticulated cover in the form of a large coiled dragon amidst clouds, its head forming the knop, the base with shallow cast taotie mask and a four-character mark reading Yu tang qing wan (plaything for the Jade Hall)

Condition

The censer with a nick to the tip of one dragon horn, an approximate 5 cm patch repair to a vertical crack between one of pair of confronting dragons, there is a small hole to one side of the base. The surface with expected wear and nicks to edges and rims.
