of cylindrical form, skillfully carved in liuqing technique around the sides in low relief with a painterly landscape of pavilions and different varieties of trees amid numerous mountains, all lightly carved through the lighter ochre skin to the rich reddish-brown underneath, wood mount to rim and base

Condition

The brushpot is in overall good condition. There are the expected vertical age cracks to the exterior, and horizontal age cracks to the interior, as well as some loss to the lacquer and worm holes. The brushpot has not been examined without its mounted wood rim and base.
