描述

  • Scholar's rock
horizontally orientated, the grey pitted stone with a contorted pointed outline evocative of a large mountain range, covered with crevices, ridges and jagged protrusions, wood stand

Condition

The rock has natural crevices and crags with numerous expected chips and cracks, consistent with the natural formation of rockworks of this type. There are striations of crystalline mineral scattered throughout, which appear to be natural. Traces of yellowish adhesive residue can be found along the lower section of one side, as seen in the catalogue illustration. The surface has typical wear, accretion, and encrustation as expected. There are several brittle areas, especially at the sharp extremities. The wood stand has various cracks, breaks, and accretion overall.
