well potted, the conical sides rising from a short foot to an indented rim, unctuously covered with a lustrous blackish-brown glaze finely streaked with russet 'hare's fur' markings, the glossy glaze falling short of the foot in a neat lustrous black bulge above the dark purple-brown body, the rim metal-bound, Japanese wood box (2)

Condition

The rim bound in white metal and the body beneath not examined, however it appears to be reduced slightly. One approximately 45mm rim crack with associated restored rim chip (18mm wide), and another 7mm restored rim chip. Four rim hairlines, the longest measuring approximately 65mm. The form of the bowl slightly uneven. Light surface wear.
