The work is in overall good condition. Upon close inspection there are scattered hairline cracks located on the top part of the work. Under ultraviolet light inspection there are no signs of restoration. Framed.

In Mother and Child, Kiukok adopts a different approach prior to his previous works. The bold visual is a sweeter rendition of his violent pieces, projecting a different façade of the artist. The symbol of the mother and child holds religious references, a common motif embedded in his works. It connects with the people of the Philippines who are devoted towards religious beliefs. Although the people were not rich with wealth, religion gave them the ability to be rich in belief.  Mother and Child is a reminder towards society’s faith and perhaps a tool for Kiukok to advocate the importance of this symbol.
