The colors of the painting are brighter than they appear in the catalog illustration. Upon close inspection, there is a very faint network of hairline craquelure visible, which is stable and consistent with the age of the work. There is a very tiny area of small pinhole sized paint loss, located a few inches below the end of the instrument on the upper right quadrant and only visible under a flashlight. There are a few scattered pinhole sized accretions at surface of the canvas, only visible under close observation. Examination under ultraviolet light reveals small areas of restoration in the painting at the edges of the work, at the negative space in the left side, at the faces, hair and headdresses of the three figures, and at the women's sarongs. Framed.
